Link to Libraries (LTL) seeks its first full-time Executive Director to lead the organization and support the volunteers, readers and other key constituents as the organization continues to grow as an important literacy resource to children throughout western Massachusetts and Connecticut. Founded in 2008, LTL has successfully supported thousands of children through its Business Book Link, Read Aloud, Reading Any Place and Celebrity Readers programs. Link to Libraries’ mission is to enhance the language and literacy development of preschool through middle school children through providing books, engaging volunteers, and developing a love of reading. LTL is focused on: a) serving schools and non-profit organizations with substantial student need; b) connecting businesses to schools; c) training and supporting volunteer readers in the classroom; and d) increasing awareness of the importance of early literacy to academic success.

 

Reporting to the Board of Directors the Executive Director will have operational responsibility for LTL including fund development, volunteer management, fiscal oversight and program development. S/he will serve as a public spokesperson. Volunteers are and will continue to be the backbone of the LTL. The executive director must be comfortable working and supporting volunteers and understand the importance of this vital resource to the success of LTL.

 

This is a full-time salaried position with an office on a smoke-free campus in Hampden, MA. Position requirements include: a strong background in fund development, budget, project management, program development and volunteer management; five or more years of experience in non-profits, education, educational support services, literacy or related field; a bachelors degree or equivalent experience in education, social sciences or related field is a plus. The Board is seeking candidates that are thoroughly committed to LTL's mission and an advocate of the importance of literacy in the development of children.

 

Connections to western Massachusetts are a plus.

Salary range: $55–65K commensurate with experience
