Executive Director of Development

The Advancement Division at Western New England University is seeking to hire an Executive Director of Development to complete the senior-level management team within the Division. Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement, the Executive Director of Development will supervise eight professionals and oversee the following giving programs for the University: major, planned, annual, and corporate and foundation giving programs. A primary focus is to provide leadership that will empower the team to achieve their goals, while putting those goals into a broader context that supports the vision and mission of the University. Additionally, the Executive Director of Development will manage a portfolio of prospects and donors with the capacity to make gifts at the major/principal gift level. The successful candidate will have experience in strategic planning and campaigns, and be able to demonstrate exceptional communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and fiscal management skills.

Bachelor's degree required.

Seven years of progressively responsible and successful fundraising experience.

Five years of management/supervisory experience.

Experience securing major gifts by strategically managing a portfolio and fostering meaningful relationships.
Highly developed leadership and organizational skills.

A track record of working closely with senior leaders and providing the support necessary to ensure their success in development activities.

Proven ability to develop guidelines and metrics to track effectiveness of projects and processes.

Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain good working relationships ranging from senior management to technical and administrative staff.

Commitment to ethical practices in fundraising.

Demonstrated ability to manage conflict.
